I am regularly asked this question in the intake interview.
Will the result of Scalp Micropigmentation remain visible throughout your life?
Is it permanent?
Just like Permanent Make-Up PMU, Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is also not (non) permanent.
Semi-permanent is a better description.
Semi-permanent means that at some point the result begins to fade. It gets lighter.
In one it can fade after 2 years, for example in the other after 2.5 years.
This has to do with the skin layer in which the micro-dots are placed. That is in the Dermis (the second layer of skin). A “normal” tattoo is put deeper so that it stays in place for the rest of your life if you do not regret it …..
Because a “normal” tattoo is put through all skin layers, sunlight has hardly any effect. Sunlight ensures that the result of Scalp Micropigmentation will fade earlier.
As soon as you see that the result starts to fade, you can have a touch-up done that can bring back the desired tint.
Actually, it’s good that it fades. As you get older, your hair becomes grayer and then with a touch-up the stubble color can adjust to the gray tone of the stubble.
It wouldn’t make sense if you were 75 years old and still have dark stubble.
You also give people who are already completely gray a smoother look because with a Micro Hair Pigmentation treatment you can generate a “salt & pepper” effect.
